TODOčko vs Trello, Todoist and Notion: where they differ

Updated 22 September 2026

Comparison pages tend to be written so that whoever writes them wins. This one does not try. Trello, Todoist and Notion are good tools with years of work behind them, and in several respects they are ahead. The difference TODOčko exists for is elsewhere.

In an ordinary application your tasks sit on the provider's server, readable by anyone with access to it. TODOčko encrypts them in your browser with a key we do not hold. What reaches the server is an unreadable block of data.

At a glance

At a glance
Property TODOčko Trello, Todoist, Notion
Who can read your data Only you, encryption happens on your side The provider, data sits readable on the server
Working without a connection Fully, the application runs on your device Differs by tool, usually partial
Connecting an AI assistant MCP server, 152 tools, runs on your machine Exists, but reads data that sits on their server
Losing your password The data is gone for good Support restores your account
Large attachments No, the limit is 100 kB to 2 MB depending on plan Yes, hundreds of megabytes routinely
Mobile apps Web, installable as an app Native apps for iOS and Android
Add-on ecosystem None Hundreds of integrations and templates

The notes about the other tools describe their approach, not their current pricing, which changes.

What TODOčko cannot do

These are real limits, not rhetorical ones. If any of them matters to you, pick a different tool and save yourself the disappointment.

  • A forgotten phrase cannot be recovered by anyone. That follows directly from us not holding the key. Anyone who does not save the phrase loses the data, and there is nothing we can do about it.
  • Attachments are small. 100 kB on Free, 500 kB on Pro, 2 MB on Enterprise, per file. Enough for a screenshot on a task, not for sharing documents. Encrypted data syncs in full, so large files would slow everything else down.
  • There are no native mobile apps. The site can be added to a home screen and behaves like an app after that, but it is not the same thing.
  • No integrations beyond Gmail and MCP. Do not expect Zapier, Slack or a thousand templates.
  • No live collaboration inside one document. Shared projects work, but you will not see a colleague's cursor in real time.
  • One person builds it. Development moves, but slower than at a company with fifty people.

Which to choose when

TODOčko makes sense when

  • Your tasks are nobody else's business: medical records, legal matters, client material.
  • You often work offline or on an unreliable connection.
  • You want an AI assistant to drive your tasks without the data crossing someone else's server.
  • You would rather the price did not grow with every extra person on the team.

Reach for an established tool when

  • You need a native mobile app and notifications on your phone.
  • You attach large files to tasks.
  • You rely on integrations with Slack, Jira or dozens of other services.
  • Your team needs live collaboration on a shared document.
  • You would rather not carry the key yourself and want a password reset to exist.

The decision comes down to one question: does it bother you that the provider can read your tasks? If not, the established tools do more. If it does, this is the price you pay for that.
